Resident Evil movies are terrible. They’re mid-budget stabs featuring cheesy action, even cheesier acting and a higher bodycount than that one scene from Hot Shots! Part Deux. And dammit, I love ’em anyway. There’s some actual brilliance hidden in those movies, as 2017 marks the end of a franchise that began in 2002.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter marks the end of an era, as series star Milla Jovovich and director Paul Anderson are going out with a bang. And with as many of those bloody zombies as humanly possible at the rate that this new trailer chucks them into the grinder:
Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead. Now, she must return to where the nightmare began – The Hive in Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse.
Man I dig it. Resident Evil movies are essentially the Fast and the Furious of the zombie genre, quick doses of popcorn action that make for a perfect afternoon out. Seeing the series come full circle in this final film feels like a great idea already, as Alice returns to the Hive in Raccoon City. And that action looks to be completely and totally bat-crap insane. I just want to see if those zombie-killing ploughs can carve a path through a horde that numbers in the tens of thousands.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter also includes Ali Larter (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as Claire Redfield, Iain Glen (Resident Evil: Extinction) as Dr. Alexander Isaacs, Shawn Roberts (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as Albert Wesker, Ruby Rose (Orange Is the New Black) as Abigail, Eoin Macken (The Night Shift) as Doc, William Levy as Christian, Fraser James (Law & Order: UK) as Michael and Japanese model Rola, as Cobalt.
That’s a pretty meaty cast for this flick actually. Just don’t tell the undead that.

Is this the film where an RSA actress/stunt-girl got hurt?
