Invasion

What’s better than one superhero? More than one superhero. Okay, lame joke. But still if you’re excited by CWs current line-up of superhero series’, it about to get even better. CW is planning their annual crossover with their DC superhero franchises – this time made even more massive with the inclusion of two new shows – and it is looking set to be one of the biggest TV events in a long time.

Taking place over four nights from Monday 28th November to Thursday 1st December, those nights will now each be filled with epic doses of superhero action. Just what every work night needs. CWs ambitious line-up sees Supergirl air Mondays, followed by The Flash on Tuesdays, Arrow on Wednesdays, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow on Thursdays. But for that week, things will be quite epic. Each of the four episodes will be titled “Invasion!” and will feature a central aliens antagonist. Obviously for the rest of us that will just watch the shows directly from our favourite streaming services, these dates are irrelevant. But that doesn’t take away from the scope of the whole thing.

And those alien antagonists that are going to create all this mayhem and bring everyone together are, The Dominators. And this latest promo for the massive spin-off gives us a first look at the alien species and a little more of what we can expect.

And, they look pretty normal. I was hoping for more yellow and bigger heads. But the promo is likely hiding a lot of what makes the Dominators such intense villains. Overall it does look like the whole thing is going to be a lot of fun to watch though. The DC shows have been a bit hit and miss, but I’m hoping its the case of the superheroes collectively being better than the sum of their parts and making the shows even better rather than just mediocrity spread across different series.

It’s a lot of heroes in the mix though and they will probably need all the episodes to find time to allow each to flourish satisfactorily. The shows will see Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Melissa Benoist as Kara/Supergirl, Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, plus Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary, Nick Zano as Nate Heywood/Steel, Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Amaya Jiwe/Vixen, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/Atom, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, and the return of Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance. It’s a massive cast, even when compared to the previous crossover episodes CW have done, but if it all works out well together, I don’t think they would hesitate in finding a way to get them together again.

And that’s not all. We also have some photos (courtesy of Entertainment Weekly) of the crossover for you to take a closer look at. Be warned, they are pretty cheesy. But like the comic book geeks that we are, we included them anyway.

I’m looking forward to this. And I love the park bench pic.
