We’re now just over two weeks away from the release of the very first Star Wars spinoff movie. There’s a hell of a lot (specifically, a lot of money) riding on this new offshoot of this beloved cinematic universe, but luckily it’s looking absolutely fantastic. And it keeps looking that way in this new extended TV spot, which gives us a bunch of new footage to geek out over.

Oh, Donnie Yen! Never stop being awesome!

But just in case that was not enough material for you to geek out over, there’s a another new TV spot simply titled “Breath” which at first glance is nothing more that 30 seconds of footage we’ve already seen, but with Darth Vader’s asthmatic wheeze laid on top of it. But pay careful attention at the 0:05 mark and you may just spot something potentially big.

Holy disintegrated Alderaan, Batman! Did we just get our first look at a new Grand Moff Tarkin? Granted it is just an out of focus shot of the back of his head, but the shape of said head, the ears, the cut of the uniform, it all looks a lot like Tarkin. You may recall that rumours had previously been floating around that Rogue One would in fact be introducing a new version of the Death Star commander played by the late Peter Cushing in the original Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. At the time, it was proposed that this would be a CGI recreation of Tarkin, but seeing how well they managed to cast a young Mon Mothma, maybe they just did the same thing here?

On top of that potentially cool little tidbit, new international IMAX posters have also been revealed and they are just all kinds of cool, especially one which focuses on a soon-to-be often quoted line from the movie.

And just because I love the way the voice over artist pronounces… EVERYTHING, here’s a new Japanese TV spot focusing on K-2SO, the reprogrammed droid played by Alan Tudyk through motion capture.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled for release on 16 December. And remember, tickets are on sale now!

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
