The South African blogosphere has exploded with all manner of personal opinion, sporting news, gaming and technology reporting and general entertainment – but there’s been something missing; there seems to be very little space for South African cinemaphiles to share their passion and take in not only the latest reviews, previews and trailers – but also the opinions of other film nuts.

Spearheaded by Gavin Mannion, the creator of South Africa’s biggest games website Lazygamer.net, TheMovies looks to fill that gap.

A site like this means nothing without talent, and TheMovies is proud to host two incredibly talented writers in the form of Noelle Adams (who has been maintaining her own successful blog pfangirl) and Kervyn Cloete, a frequent contributor to Lazygamer previously and a multitude of other local websites. Rounding out the roster will be Gavin himself, and Lazygamer.net’s hardest working minion, Darryn Bonthuys.
