World War Z at its best is when you and several other players need to draw a line in the sand and make a last stand. The game mechanics shine at this point, as hundreds of bodies move like a swarm across the screen and into the line of fire, making for some tense action. That moment of glory is pretty much getting a dedicated mode today, in the form of the imaginatively titled Horde Mode Z.
Surprising everyone, a game based on the below average film of same name, released six years since the movie, is actually kinda…great?
I really miss playing Left 4 Dead with a group of friends, so I‘m glad that Turtle Rock has teamed up with Warner Bros to deliver a spiritual successor to the game. It’s called Back 4 Blood, and we’ll see more of that in the coming year. In the meantime though, there’s another co-op shooter that’s all about surviving the undead, and that’s Saber Interactive’s World War Z.
The whole schtick for zombies is that they don't die. Unfortunately for the long-gestating World War Z sequel, it appears that it's not as resilient as it's subject matter.
