Dogs and cats living together! A remake of these events starring an all-female cast three decades from now! Mass hysteria! That’s pretty much been the go-to feeling over the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot so far, starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon,Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth.
But for all of those negative reactions, the flick hasn’t just crossed the streams to break out of development hell, it has begun actually filming. In Boston, which apparently doubles quite well for New York City. Here’s a round-up of set photos of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Kate McKinnon in action:

As for plot details, The Boston Herald claim that they have the plot synopsis. Take it with a pinch of salt then:
Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. (Like the original, the story takes place in New York City, even though it’s being shot in Boston.) Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.
The film is currently shooting for a July 22 release next year. Which will of course, herald a shared universe of Ghostbuster movies. Because of course it will.

You mean end the universe as we know it because WOMMINZ can’t fight ghosts, that’s not realistic!

Any negative criticism of this film will be instantly classified as misogynistic. Get those trigger warnings ready…
