Alright, enough is enough. I’m done with these constant Ice Age sequels. And the next movie that has a “be true to yourself” moral within it, gets stabbed in the eye. What we need, is some good old fashioned violence, thuggery, zombie action and supernatural overtones mixed in with some sci fi.
David Fincher has just such a film in mind, in the form of an adaptation of the cult hit comic, The Goon. And he needs your help to kickstart it.
Fincher, comic book creator Eric Powell and Blur Studios have taken to the crowdsourcing platform Kicktstarter, in order to raise some dough to create a feature length animatic, which would star the voices of Clancy “Kurgan” Brown and Paul Giamatti, for the two lead characters of Goon and Franky.
The team is looking to raise $400 000 for the animatic, which won’t be a feature length film, but rather a more polished look at the potential to create the movie, as a proof of concept.
Pledging gets you anything from a PDF document, T Shirt poster and a visit to the studio itself, so donate some green to an animated movie that is loud, violent and offensive to your grandma.
So far, over $100 000 has been raised, so it looks like this film might yet become a reality. Meanwhile, enjoy a sneak peek of the violent twosome wreaking some havoc, Fincher style!

Ah, to live in a world where Marvel bubblegum doesn’t get pushed out every hour and projects like this don’t have to beg for funding…

As much as I love my comics from the Big Two, it is a shame that the lesser known stuff gets overshadowed so much. I would kill for an Rex Libris or Girls movie.
