I’m sure that a bunch of you checked out those Fast & Furious guys and girls over the weekend (curse my busy social life for not allowing me to see it yet!) but later in the year, another movie featuring the neon-covered need for for speed will be out, also starring another bald guy. Not that he has much choice in the baldness, seeing as snails don’t have hair.
Yes, I said snail.
From the makers of “Madagascar” and “Kung Fu Panda,” “Turbo” is a high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail whose dreams kick into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own. So he puts his heart and shell on the line to help his pals achieve their dreams, before Turbo-charging his own impossible dream: winning the Indy 500.
With the Indy 500 (you know, that other big racing event that’s not the Formula 1 Grand Prix where a bunch of Americans get together to see who can turn left better than everybody else) having taken place this past weekend, Dreamworks has also released a new featurette for Turbo focused on the racing event, as well as a series of character posters introducing Turbo’s crew.
Turbo will be racing into cinemas on July 17, 2013.

I’ll pass. This looks like another of Dreamworks’ half-baked yarns.
