With a Thanksgiving weekend to get stuffed…on turkey, the north American box office was bustling over the last couple of days. A few new releases rocked up, but they couldn’t dethrone the current king and queen, in the form of Twilight and Skyfall.
Yes, I just called James Bond a queen. This might be my last post ever typed.
It could shout WOLVERINES! all it wants, but it looks like Red Dawn may have been held back a tad too long. Hitting the seventh spot in it’s debut, the Thor-starring film was well behind other debuts, such as Rise of the Guardians in fourth place, and Life of Pi in fifth.
- The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 – $43 Million
- Skyfall – $36 Million
- Lincoln – $25 Million
- Rise of the Guardians – $24 Million
- Life of Pi – $22 Million
- Wreck-It Ralph – $16.7 Million
- Red Dawn – $14.6 Million
- Flight – $8.6 Million
- Silver Linings Playbook – $4.6 Million
- Argo – $3.8 Million
Ben Affleck’s Argo looks ready to depart the top ten, as it lingers at the bottom after a successful seven week run, while Pitch Perfect and Taken 2 finally dropped out of the elite list.

Or maybe Red Dawn just sucks? Perhaps it’s too outdated. The trailers never really got me interested.

From what I can gather from the reviews, it unfortunately hits that sweet (or is that sour?) spot of not being good, but not being wholly terrible either, so instead it’s mediocre and forgettable.
